What a weekend eh? I went to the All Ireland T20 Final and we fell short in a Super over!!
We’ve rounded up five cool things happening this week in Dublin for Free! Discover the buzz in Dublin this week! I will be going to Electric Picnic for another year of madness. However, like every week there is PLENTY on in Dublin for free. Have a look and see what’s there!

Saturday 2nd September - 10am - Free
Join the excitement as Dublin Maker, a free community-run “show and tell” event, takes place at Richmond Barracks on Saturday, 2nd September 2023. Expect to witness a carnival atmosphere filled with inventors and makers from diverse backgrounds showcasing their creative talents - everything from tech, crafts, education, hobbies, art and more.
Open to individuals of all ages and backgrounds, Dublin Maker is headlined as a celebration of innovation and creativity, aiming to entertain, inform, and link Ireland's makers, while inspiring the nation's future inventors.
National Services Day
Dublin Castle - Saturday 2nd September - Free
Watch as a parade of personnel, bands, and vehicles from the emergency and security services march from Parnell Square, finishing at Dublin Castle. An array of services including Dublin Fire Brigade, RNLI, Irish Coast Guard, Airport Fire & Police, and An Garda SĂochána, to name a few, will provide exhibits of their work.
This unique event shines a deserving spotlight on the diligence of staff and volunteers who loyally serve the state. It also offers an engaging opportunity for visitors, young and old, to better understand and appreciate their vital services. Come join in the celebration of these brave and dedicated individuals.
Sunday Kids Drop by Activities
Every Sunday - Botanic Gardens - Free
20 minute sessions start at 11.00am,11.30am, 3.30pm & 4.00pm
Get your kids to learn about the garden at the National Botanic Gardens every Sunday. Join their knowledgeable professionals for fun activities in the dedicated Children’s Erasmus Education Garden!
Each week they have a different activity to help your kids to become an expert gardener. Sow your own vegetable and flower seeds, play some nature games or re-use everyday things to create your own piece of eco-art all for free with thanks to the Botanic Gardens.

National Gallery of Ireland - Guided Tour
Saturday 2nd Saturday - 2.30pm
To start off the tour, meet your tour guide in the Courtyard, near the Merrion Square entrance.
The NGI Visitor Guide is like the bible for details of what to expect on your visit to the Gallery. Every answer you can think of has been fitted into this! You can read the guide here.
All public tours are fully accessible to people who are hard of hearing and use a tour guide system with T-loop capabilities.
The National Gallery run a regular programme of free guided tours in the Gallery. Everyone is welcome - no booking required! These tours are aimed towards including the entire community. Take a look below at one that might suit you better.
Highlights Tours: Saturdays at 12.30pm and 2.30pm, Sundays at 1.30pm and 2.30pm
Themed Tours: Saturdays at 1.30pm
Family Tours: Sundays at 12.30pm
New Parents' Tours: the 2nd Monday of the month at 2pm
Tours for the hard of hearing: the 1st Thursday of every 2nd month at 5.30pm
Qigong at The Chester Beatty Library
September 2nd - 12pm - The Chester Beatty - Free
With views of Dublin Castle and the city skyline, the roof top garden of the Chester Beatty Library provides an oasis of peace, a place to rest for a while and enjoy its tranquillity. Qigong is a traditional Chinese form of meditation coordinating slow flowing movement, deep rhythmic breathing and a calm state of mind.

Free, no booking required but places are limited. The meeting point is on the 3rd floor lobby of the museum. This seems to be weather permitting also, so make sure you check out their FB page!
