What's Happening in Dublin this Weekend - March 20th - Free Events

The evenings are stretching, the parks are waking up, and Dublin is starting to feel alive again.

Hey all,

Spring is slowly creeping in. The evenings are stretching, the parks are waking up, and Dublin is starting to feel alive again.

This week’s lineup has a lovely mix: gardening talks, storytelling, music for little ones, farmers markets, and a beautiful Sunday concert to finish the weekend.

If you’re looking for an excuse to get out of the house (or bring the kids somewhere new), here are a few things worth checking out.

This Week’s Picks

  • National Botanic Gardens Spring Lecture Series

  • Singing in Spring – Goethe-Institut Irland

  • Red Stables Farmers Market – St Anne’s Park

  • What’s the Story? Storytelling Workshop – Lucan Library

  • Musical Tots – Palmerstown Library

  • Hugh Lane Sunday Concert Series – Lina Andonovska & Izumi Kimura

National Botanic Gardens Spring Lecture Series
Saturday & Sunday

If spring has you thinking about your garden (or finally getting those plants you bought last year under control), the Botanic Gardens are hosting a fantastic lecture series this weekend.

Topics include:

Raw Gardening – Working with Nature in Your Garden
Oliver Schurmann of Mount Venus Nursery
Fungi and Biodiversity

Perfect for gardeners, nature lovers, or anyone curious about biodiversity and sustainable gardening.

Singing in Spring
Goethe-Institut Irland | Friday | 4–5pm

Who feels like singing?

This relaxed Friday afternoon session invites people to come together and sing simple songs in German. No pressure, no auditions, just music, language and a bit of fun.

You don’t need to speak German to join, just bring your voice.

👉 Reserve here, but you could probably rock in on the day!

If you enjoy Dublin Buzz and find these roundups useful, you can support the work over on Buy Me a Coffee.

It helps cover the time spent digging out events, keeping things up to date, and making sure the good stuff stays free and easy to find. No pressure at all, just a simple way to back the project if it’s been helpful to you.

Red Stables Farmers Market
St Anne’s Park | Saturday | 10am–4pm

One of the best markets in Dublin.

Expect an incredible spread of artisan food, fresh produce, coffee, pastries and street food — all set beside the Red Stables in the beautiful St Anne’s Park.

Perfect excuse for a long park walk and a good lunch.

What’s the Story? – The Storyteller Workshop
Lucan Library | Saturday | 12–1:45pm

A creative storytelling workshop where participants share short tales, respond to live prompts and collaborate on stories together.

If you’ve ever wanted to try storytelling, or just want to meet other creative people, this is a fun and welcoming space to do it.

Musical Tots
Palmerstown Library | Saturday | 10:30am

A joyful music workshop designed for babies and preschoolers.

Little ones can sing, dance and explore sound in a relaxed environment with parents or guardians.

If you’ve got tiny music lovers in the house, this is a lovely weekend activity.

Hugh Lane Sunday Concert Series
Abbey Presbyterian Church | Sunday | 1–2pm

A beautiful pairing of flutes and piano with Lina Andonovska and Izumi Kimura.

Their performances blend improvisation, minimalism and lyrical passages into something quietly powerful. If you’re looking for a calm, reflective way to spend a Sunday afternoon, this one is well worth it.

I’d really recommend picking up a ticket, every time I mention these concerts they go so quick!

That’s your Dublin Buzz for the week.

If you’re heading into the city this weekend, wander a bit. Some of the best festival moments are the ones you didn’t plan for.

And if you know someone who’s always saying “there’s nothing on in Dublin” — forward them this email.
