We’re getting into that part of September where Dublin’s calendar starts filling up again.
This weekend we’ve got Malaysian food, theatre in Tallaght, a massive Harvest Fair in Inchicore and even a cooking class for the younger foodies.
The Richmond Barracks Harvest Fair is probably my pick this week. It’s completely free to enter, runs across both Saturday and Sunday, and there’s a lot happening across the two days.

Richmond Barracks Harvest Fair 2026
Location: Richmond Barracks, Inchicore, Dublin 8
Date & Time: Saturday 12 & Sunday 13 September, 11am–5pm
This is a good one.
Richmond Barracks is taking over the weekend with its annual Harvest Fair, built around the themes of Eat, Grow and Make.
There’ll be free creative workshops, makers and designers, seasonal crafts, food and drink, music and plenty happening for kids. Inchicore Library will also be open across both days.
Entry to the fair is free, so you could easily wander down for an hour and see what’s happening.
Taste of Malaysia 2026
Location: Asia Market, Ballymount Road Lower, Dublin 12
Date & Time: Sunday 13 September, 12pm–3pm
This might be the one that gets me out of the house.
A free celebration of Malaysian food and culture with food sampling, live cooking demonstrations, traditional games, music and cultural activities.
There’ll be everything from char kway teow and nasi lemak to Malaysian desserts, drinks and a live demonstration of roti jala.
Free food and a cooking demo? I don't need much convincing. I don’t know whether you need a ticket, but there’s no harm in having one if you intend on going.
Who Will Pay The Bride Price
Location: Rua Red, South Dublin Arts Centre, Tallaght
Date & Time: Saturday 12 September, 4pm–5pm
Hopeful Theatre brings a new original production to Rua Red exploring cross-cultural relationships in modern Dublin.
The story follows an Irish woman and an African man whose relationship comes under pressure when traditional customs and modern expectations collide.
It’s a one-hour production and entry is free, but save a space today.

The Cool Food School
Location: Lucan Library, Lucan Shopping Centre
Date & Time: Friday 11 September, 3pm–4pm
One for the smaller chefs.
The Cool Food School is running a hands-on cookery class for children aged 5–12, where they’ll learn how to make tasty, healthy snacks.
Parents or guardians will need to provide allergy information on the day, and you'll need to book a place for each child attending.

The Literati Dublin
Location: Wren Urban Nest, St Andrew's Lane, Dublin 2
Date & Time: Saturday 12 September
A social gathering for people who like reading without the commitment of pretending they finished the book for book club.
Bring something you've read before coming along. It could be a few pages of a book, a poem, article, recipe, joke or even something you spotted online.
Then you meet, have a chat about it and see where the conversation goes.

A chance to get behind the scenes of Parthalán, a new work inspired by one of the oldest figures in Irish mythology and Tallaght's own story.
The wider project brings together music, storytelling and contemporary creative work, with artists exploring ideas around movement, arrival, place and belonging.
