What's Happening in Dublin this weekend (Sept 10th) - Free Events

Earth Rising and the Fringe Fest are back in Dublin

Hey all,

There’s a real mix of creative energy around Dublin this week, with two city festivals, harvest fairs, and performances popping up everywhere. Here are 5 events worth checking out:

✅ Earth Rising Festival – IMMA, art meets climate action
✅ Richmond Barracks Harvest Fair – Nature, food & community
✅ Congruence at SO Fine Art – Landscapes and memory in visual art
✅ Inspiring the Next Generation of Gardeners – Weekly family sessions at the Botanic Gardens
✅ Dublin Fringe Festival – Loads of city-wide shows, including free events

🌍 Earth Rising Festival

📍 IMMA
📅 Friday 12th – Sunday 14th September
Ireland’s leading climate culture festival returns with over 50 free events. Expect talks, workshops, art installations, and grassroots projects.

All designed to explore the future of our planet through art and action. Based around IMMA’s “Staying with the Trouble” exhibition, the festival invites us to face the climate crisis together, not alone.

Richmond Barracks Harvest Fair

📍 Richmond Barracks
📅 Saturday 13th – Sunday 14th September
A weekend of autumn celebration and community connection. Browse stalls from local makers, enjoy creative workshops, walking tours, family-friendly fun and tasty seasonal food.

This year’s theme is “Eat, Grow and Make.” Free entry, bike/buggy-friendly, and dogs are welcome too.

Congruence – Two-Person Exhibition

📍 SO Fine Art Editions, South Anne St
📅 Running until 4th October
A quiet, thoughtful exhibition exploring how artists see the earth, as history, memory, and possibility.

French-Swiss artist Emmanuel Matt and Irish artist Pascal Ungerer show contrasting but connected views of liminal, imagined and real landscapes. A reflective stop if you’re in town.

🌱 Inspiring the Next Generation of Gardeners

📍 National Botanic Gardens
📅 Sundays & Tuesdays until end of Sept
Weekly drop-in sessions (no booking needed) for kids aged 4+. Activities change weekly, from sowing seeds to creating eco-art.

A fun and gentle way to get kids connected to nature. Runs Sunday (11am, 11.30am, 3.30pm, 4pm) and Tuesday afternoons (3.30pm, 4pm).

Check the Botanic Gardens Instagram to find this weeks class.

🎭 Dublin Fringe Festival

📍 Across the city
📅 Running until 21st September
Fringe Fest is in full swing, with loads of playful, bold and thoughtful shows happening city-wide. Some events are free, like Scripted, Performing Memory, and Minaw Collective Jam, with plenty more happening every day.

Worth exploring the programme even if you're on a budget. And worth buying a ticket if you can. The Dublin Fringe festival does a lot to support Irish artists.
