What's Happening in Dublin this weekend (March 5th) - Free Events

Beidh deireadh seachtaine iontach againn.

New week, new buzz 🇮🇪🌊🌱

Right, here’s what is happening:

  • Seachtain na Gaeilge

  • Bull Island Low Tide Sunrise Walk

  • Plant and Seed Swa-

It’s Seachtain na Gaeilge, which means the city is full of events celebrating our native language, from full-blown fluentoirí to the proud cúpla focal crew.

It’s the biggest Irish language festival in the world (casual), and it’s run by communities, schools, councils, libraries and arts groups across the country.

If you’ve ever said “I must use my Irish more,” this is your week.

Plant & Seed Swap
Rediscovery Centre
March 7, 10am

Spring energy activated.

Bring a plant, take a plant. Swap seeds. Chat to other green-fingered legends. Whether you’ve a full garden or one brave basil plant on a windowsill, you’re welcome.

It’s wholesome. It’s sustainable. It’s very “new beginnings.”

Bull Island Low Tide Sunrise Walk
March 8, 7am

Yes, 7am. But hear me out.

Low tide. Empty dunes. Sunrise over the sea. A 10km wander with good chats and maybe (maybe) a freezing dip at the end if you’re feeling brave.

Meet beside Happy Out Café. Free. Proper reset energy.

Bring layers. Trust me.

If you enjoy Dublin Buzz and find these roundups useful, you can support the work over on Buy Me a Coffee.

It helps cover the time spent digging out events, keeping things up to date, and making sure the good stuff stays free and easy to find. No pressure at all, just a simple way to back the project if it’s been helpful to you.

🎭 Sm(all) Folk Festival –
Axis Ballymun
All Month

Big ideas for small people.

A theatre festival designed for children and young audiences — playful, imaginative, accessible and genuinely lovely.

If you’ve kids in your life, this is one to bookmark.

Growing Good – Social Enterprise & Food Systems
March 4

If you’re into local food, sustainability, or just like the idea of businesses doing good — this is a solid midweek event.

Talks from social enterprises building better local food systems, plus catering by purpose-driven businesses (which honestly is reason enough).

🎨 Criativa Dublin – Brazilian Market & Music
The Hendrick Smithfield
March 7, 4–9pm

Brazilian women artists. Handmade fashion and jewellery. Live music. Hendrick Hotel vibes.

It’s colourful, creative, and a little different from your usual Saturday plan — which is exactly why you should go.

That’s your buzz for the week.

As always, if you go to something from this list, tell me how it was. And if someone in your group chat is always saying “there’s nothing on,” forward this to them.

I’ve published a longer form of guide with things that are always on and free to do, read the extended free to do in Dublin guide now
